2017 Boy Hawthorn South Track and Field
Track and field has 4 coaches. Two Girl Coaches and Two Boy Coaches. Mr. Nielson is the Head Girls Coach and Ms. Gess is his assistant. Head Coach for the Boys is Mr. Carlsen ([email protected].) and his assistant is TBA. If you have any questions go to the Head Coach of your child. If your child can not attend a meet or a practice send an email or a note to the Head coach of your child. Coaches take daily attendance, unreported absences will be viewed as unexcused absences. After three unexcused absences, athletes will be released from the team. At Away Meets all Boys needs to be signed in and if their parent is taking them HOME from the Meet they MUST be Signed out on the Clip Board. If an athlete is not signed out, we must assume they will take the bus back to the School, and search for them if they are not present at the bus. Find the Coach of your child for the location of the clip board. CLIP BOARD: We will have it by the Stands at 1st and then a Coach will be walking to the Field events to sign those Parents out back to the Stands. When the Boys are Running we will have it at the starting line hanging on the fence. We have 4 Coaches and our coaches and at least two, sometimes more, are expected to run events at meets. We will have one that is not working events and available for athletes and parents, the rest should be available for emergencies and possibly less sever situations depending on the event. Locations to look for the Available Coach will be in the stands with the students, by the field events, or by the Starting line. Home Meets we will Not have a bus because of the late starting times, and athletes need to be picked up at the track. If you missed the parent meeting contact your coach by email or in person. BREAKING NEWS
At our last A.D. meeting, the conference decided to swap the girls and boys events for the first half of the season so that parents might be able to get to parts of the meet that they don’t normally. So instead of Girls track while guys field, it would be boys run, girls field for the first half of the season. On April 25th it would go back to what we will do for sectionals and state, so as to keep the kids in the right rhythm.
Please plan for this on our home meets and at away meets.
