Dear Parents,
Beginning on Monday, January 9th , 2017, our Physical Education Classes at Aspen Elementary School will be involved in an in-house Inline Skating program. Lifetime Sports, a company endorsed by Roller Blade Inc., will coordinate the program. Our goal is to make this an instructional and fitness oriented unit covering the following areas:
Provide a lifetime activity Skate for Fitness Stopping Cooperation
Proper Protective equipment Striding Turning Forward Skating
Balance and ready position Rules of the road Fun Backward Skating
The third thru fifth grade will all be using the inline skates $9.00 and the second grade will be using quad skates $8.00. The skates have soft wheels, so we will be skating right on the gym floor. Roller skates or roller blades may not be brought from home. Protective gear may be brought from home. Make sure it is marked with the student’s name. The student must be responsible for all protective gear they bring from home. The student will keep the equipment in his/her hallway locker. The company provides the school with wrist guards, helmets and knee pads. Every student must wear wrist guards and helmets.
The fee includes delivery and pick up of all equipment and skate rental for 9 days of skating (January 9th – February 3rd) depending on the rotation. During the program students will learn basic roller-skating skills including forward and backward skating, turning, and stopping. A variety of other skating games and activities will also be offered.
Please fill out the permission slip below with your child’s gym shoe size and return it to your child’s homeroom teacher ASAP.
Please make checks payable to Hawthorn District #73.
Thank you
